The Application Operations Engineer executes the Production Batch & Ad-Hoc Operational jobs associated with the Client SMS and its subtending systems, providing Tier 2 Operations Support, serving as a liaison between Development and Quality Assurance for Batch Operations Testing.  Modify batch schedule per Management direction, while factoring conflicting Maintenance Plans into the schedule. This individual will be an accomplished Engineer in executing/implementing Application Operation related initiatives, but also serve as a key contributor in the delivery of such initiatives. The AppOps Engineer assures adherence to the Client billing solution Sarbanes and Compliance policies and procedures. The AppOps Engineer will plan, setup, support, triage, and resolve Batch Operations, Monthend, and Reporting systems supporting Client’s Subscriber Management System. The SMS is at its core an Oracle BRM implementation utilizing COTS software, custom developed software, a Weblogic service tier, and a variety of support tools. The AppOps Engineer will perform Operations testing and validation related to a large-scale system integration task. He/She will provide superior analytical, technical, and Engineering skills and possess the ability to work as part of a team in a rapidly changing environment.

 Position responsibilities:
  • Application Operations batch/ad-hoc job execution
  • Provide recommendations for the  Continuous Improvement/Refinement to the Operation.
  • Batch Operations and Reporting for Production, development, test, and load-test environments

  • Batch Operations and Metrics reporting for US and Canada SMS

  • QA for Batch Jobs, Data Cleanups, ME jobs, Reports

  • Working with infrastructure (windows, unix, network, storage) engineers to document required environments for Operations integration effort.
  • Troubleshooting Batch Operation issues and providing support to testing team
  • Participate in project wrap-up sessions to highlight successes and failures of the team. Identify remediation plans focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Produce Operational artifacts like Daily Ops/Financial reports and Weekly Operations Report.
  • Interact with individuals at various levels (operators to executives) across IT, Client business units, and vendors and partners.
  • Responsible for interacting with other teams such as QA, analysts, and development. Eg: review functional requirements, review run books etc.
  • Assist mentoring team/SOC on process and methodology.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Prior experience in subscriber management software application operations is required.
  • Demonstrated past experience leading large-scale subscriber-based services billing operation.
  • Hands on experience with database servers such as Oracle 9i or higher and
  • Experience managing integrations and migrations
  • Experience with team collaboration environment using SharePoint, MS Project.
  • Experience with proven SDLC methodology
  • Software Package Experience (as defined below)
  • Strong UNIX user skills
  • SQL skills (Oracle and SQL Server databases)
  • Experience installing, configuring one-off data cleanups or batch enhancements
  • Experience reviewing and deciphering job output pin logs
  • Strong communication skills; working with IT and non-IT users
  • Adapt to dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Background with subscription billing systems
  • 5+ Years of Operations experience (degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience)
  • Able to create/modify shell scripts using ksh
  • Have experience working with XML and XSLT

  • 5+ years total experience in application operations and production support roles
  • 5+ Years of Subscriber Management Development and Release Methodologies
  • 5+ years experience with Oracle databases
  • 5+ years with Oracle BRM (Portal Infranet) in a subscription-related industry
